Design Setting
Dalrymple is a bold and refined response to a steep Wilston site with commanding south-facing views to the Brisbane city skyline. Falling sharply away from the street and constrained by a traditional character overlay, the design had to balance form, function, and compliance while delivering a luxurious modern home.
The home presents modestly to the street — a two-level façade with a concrete-roofed carport and double garage — but unfolds dramatically behind. A triple-height stair void with vertical glazing floods the home with natural light, anchoring the internal experience. Neutral white tones and timber details soften the home’s strong geometry, while the blend of traditional rooflines and mid-century inspiration gives the house its timeless identity.
Lived Experience
Dalrymple invites you in with light and scale. The journey begins with a dramatic stairwell that connects all three levels, acting as the spine of the home and drawing natural light deep into the plan. From there, the main living space opens out — kitchen, dining, and lounge all flow seamlessly onto a large rear deck that frames the sweeping city view.
The top floor is a private master retreat, offering a luxurious ensuite, walk-in robe, and peaceful sitting area, all designed for calm and comfort. Below, the ground level contains three bedrooms, a main bathroom, a theatre room, and an additional living zone that steps out to the pool — perfect for entertaining and family life.
